About

Michael Isles has been taking photographs since the 1970s, beginning with film and then embracing digital photography when it arrived in the early 2000s. His practice has encompassed many different genres in photography, enabling him over time to refine and define his primary direction. Michael studied photography at Southend on Sea College of Arts and Technology, and is currently a member of the British Institute of Professional Photography and the Royal Photographic Society.

Minimalism and mindfulness are two descriptors that fit well with Michael’s flow of work. Mindfulness can be said to be the  conscious awareness of the moment, and images, sounds, smells etc can all act as aids and prompts to self-awareness and esteem.  Minimalism is perhaps summed up as an appreciation of simple forms and a recognition that, to quote a well-used adage, less is more. Conscious thought is then given to the make-up of the photograph, with perhaps more room and time to absorb the simple elements of the art.

All photographs on this website are for sale as prints on high quality satin or gloss archival photographic paper. Guide prices are as follows:

• Mounted print to fit A3 frame, from £75.00 plus postage and packing
